JIM BROWN

Jim Brown began his media career in New York City in 1963 at Henry Straus Productions, Inc. located in New York, New York. While in New York, Jim produced many short films and taught at the groundbreaking WNET-TV Film Training School. In 1969 Jim accepted the position of Director of the Hartford Community Film Workshop Council in Hartford, Connecticut. Jim also created, produced and hosted "Black Exposure," a weekly public affairs program that aired in Connecticut from 1970 - 1972.
In 1972 joined the faculty of Howard University in Washington, DC. In 1980, he developed and managed the Howard University Television station's Student Training Program. From 1996 to 1998, he served as Station Manager of the Howard University Television station, WHUT - TV. Jim served on the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences - Washington, DC Board of Governors from 1984 - 1988 and again from 1994 - 1998. From 1998 - 2000 Jim served as Second Vice President.
Currently, Jim is Multimedia Manager at the Howard University School of Communications. His responsibilities include producing programs that air on WHUT-TV, Howard University's public television station and participating in the design of the new state-of- the-art, 5 story School of Communications building. He also produces the national weekly live-call-radio program, MyNDTALK "Making It Make Sense" (SM) with Dr. Pamela Brewer on Pacifica Network. Jim is also the Co-Facilitator for MANUP, a men only support and mentoring group, at Howard University in Washington, DC.
